New York City Rescue Workers Detoxification Project fundraiser

Cruise and his pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes attended a New York City Rescue Workers Detoxification Project fundraiser, which he helped found in the wake of 9/11. The couple were joined by R&B star Usher.

He says, "I started this project out of the great respect I have for the courage and service of the rescue workers. When I started this project I was in position where I knew I could help. I absolutely consider it an honor and a privilege to be here to help these men and women."

The annual Tribeca gala raised $1.6 million. The project aids firefighters, emergency medical technicians, policeofficers and the many first responders who were exposed to potentially dangerous materials circulating in the air after the collapse of the World Trade Center.

Tom Cruise at Grand Opening of Church of Scientology in Spain

Actor Tom Cruise addressed the thousands attending the Grand Opening

Waving flags and cheering, thousands of people from throughout Spain, Europe and the United States crowded into Calle de Santa Catalina in the capital Saturday to celebrate the Grand Opening of the magnificent new premises of the Church of Scientology of Madrid. After a moving ceremony featuring speeches from Scientology executives and leading Spanish human rights advocates, the President of the new Church, Maria Gutierrez, invited all those present to take a tour of the beautifully renovated building.

Joining Mr. David Miscavige to celebrate today's opening in Madrid was actor Tom Cruise, who described how Scientology has helped him in his life and career:

"In Scientology I have found several tools that I can apply to my daily life and they have allowed me to help myself and to help others to better the conditions of my life and of society. Honestly I can tell you that I wouldn't be here today as an artist, as a father and as a human being if it were not for Scientology.

"It has given me a larger comprehension of the world that we live in and of the spiritual being that I am."

Filming in China

Speaking to journalists atop the historic Bund 18 building as bells tolled and horns blared from ships passing on the nearby Huangpu River, Cruise said he finished shooting the China sequences for Mission Impossible 3 a couple days early.

Both said they were warned that filming in China would be difficult due to language barriers, but found that working with the local crew went smoother than expected.

"They enabled us to work at a terrific speed," Cruise said. "I'm going to tell our friends how terrific and skilled the workers are."

Cruise is both starring in and co-producing the third instalment in the Mission Impossible series, which has also filmed scenes in Rome and at an 18th-century palace north of Naples, Italy.

The film is due to be released on May 5, 2006.

Tom in Shanghai

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Actor Tom Cruise got a taste of Asian cellphone etiquette in Shanghai when a local reporter took a call in the middle of his press event on the city's historic Bund on Wednesday.

Such chatter is common in much of Asia, where people routinely talk on their phones in the middle of news briefings and many other public gatherings.

But the American superstar, in town to shoot scenes for his latest "Mission: Impossible" movie, took it all in his stride, borrowing the phone from the surprised reporter to talk to the woman caller.

"Hello. Xie xie. Ni hao. How are you?" said an amused Cruise, dressed in black, exhausting his limited Chinese vocabulary before going on to ask if the woman -- the reporter's wife -- was at work and about her marital status. Continue...

Tom Cruise: 'They Should All Jump on Couches'

Long known for fiercely guarding his private life, film star Tom Cruise put his love for actress Katie Holmes in the spotlight this year. Cruise says he has no regrets about his much-publicized couch-jumping incident on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" when he declared his love for Holmes.

Cruise, 42, has known the 26-year-old Holmes for less than a year, but he tells Walters he "just knew" she was the one for him. "I really just knew. It was an explosion. And she is just magic. And I really think that all men should celebrate their women. & They should all jump on couches for them. & When you find that woman, you should absolutely be unabashed about it. That's how I feel about it," he tells Walters.

Cruise also shares his opinions about prescription drugs, psychiatry and Scientology with Walters....

TOM CRUISE MEETS CHINESE GIRL DUE TO HER NEW BOOK

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (11/09/2005; 0930)(EIS) -- When Tom Cruise heard the story of Niki Yan, a Chinese girl who wrote "My Love For You, Tom Cruise -- A Desperate Chinese Girl's Confession," a book about how he inspired her to come to America from a small village in China, he was so moved and he invited her to the set of Mission Impossible III.

Tom Cruise invited Niki Yan, the author of "My Love For You, Tom Cruise -- A Desperate Chinese Girl's Confession," to the movie set of Mission Impossible III after he was moved by her story.

"Thank you so much for all these years of inspiration and positive information," said Yan as she was almost in tears when she met Cruise.

The Chinese girl finally met her hero and role model after the movie Top Gun inspired her eight years ago.

E! Entertainment Television also reported the story and interviewed Niki Yan in person.

Yan gave a copy of the book to Tom Cruise on the set. And she is still looking for the right publisher and has no doubt that it will be a bestseller.

Yan says, "Meeting Cruise was like meeting an old friend." Cruise asked about her family in China and her childhood in the village. "He really cares about people. He made me feel like home."

Tom Cruise said they would like to give Niki a tour sometime at the Celebrity Center of Scientology church in Hollywood. "Scientology must have done something really good for Tom" Yan does not want to hide her enthusiasm about Tom's controversial religion.

Niki Yan grew up in a poor village of China, which had no water and electricity. She saw Top Gun by chance at the age of 11. She started to pursue her own American dream since.

The author of six books, Yan published her first book when she was 13. She received special admission to China's #1 University: Peking University due to her creative achievement. She also gave Cruise a screenplay she just finished. She expects him to star in it.

Yan's ultimate dream is to work in the film industry as a writer and actress.

"This is just a start," Niki told Tom. "It's always a start," responded Tom. The phoenix from the village finally realized her American dream.

Expansion with New Publicist

Tom Cruise has brought on board veteran publicist Paul Bloch, who is also co-chairman of the public relations firm Rogers & Cowan, according to the Daily Variety trade paper. Bloch also will oversee publicity for the actor's production company Cruise-Wagner Productions.

"Lee Anne has done a wonderful job on behalf of myself and Cruise-Wagner Productions over the last few years," Cruise said in a statement. "But she has always expressed a desire to oversee and expand the day-to-day activities of my charitable endeavors. With our current plans to increase those endeavors, and Cruise-Wagner's increased production slate of film and television projects, this seemed the appropriate time to make that segue and bring Rogers and Cowan on board to handle mine and the company's entertainment-related publicity needs."

Pregnancy and Silent Birth

One can heardly miss the happy news of Katie Holms being pregnant, which I think is GREAT news, and from what I can see Tom and Katie are very happy about it as well.

I really want to congratulate them to the good news!!

With a pregnancy inevitably comes birth. And it is really up to every mother to do it how they deem best there are different schools of thought on the subject, as with just about everything on earth. Some like it hot some like it cold; some are tall some are short; some are black some are white. No man, woman or child is just like the one next to them. And honestly I have to say "Thank god", as other wise it would be very boring if every thing was exaxtly the same as everything else.

Anyway on to the subject of silent birth. Here is a press release on the subject which summs it up very nice:

While almost everyone knows that drug and alcohol abuse influence the health of the unborn, millions of people today also understand that spoken words can affect the intelligence and happiness of babies still in the womb. And due to media buzz surrounding Hollywood celebrities subscribing to "silent birth" this message is getting out to millions more. But why should pregnant women choose to give birth in silence?

The connection between prenatal experience and later life difficulties suffered by children was first clearly explained in 1950 in the best-selling book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard. The book Dianetics (
www.dianetics.org) has sold over 20 million copies and its methods have been tried and tested around the world. Hubbard explained that when an unborn child is bumped, knocked, squeezed - in short injured - in the womb and/or when the mother is giving birth, everything said by the mother or others in the vicinity is recorded below the awareness of the child in what Hubbard termed the child's "reactive mind."

Under certain circumstances the content of those recordings can be activated later in life and make a person act irrationally or otherwise limit his abilities and intelligence, explains Hubbard. Yet the person has no idea what is making him act or feel that way. Anyone could have such prenatal experiences - all of them potentially harmful when coupled with language, such as "he doesn’t want to come out," stated by a well-meaning doctor or nurse to a colleague.

The primary rule is silence when giving birth, according to Brittany Wadhams, who recently gave birth to her first son, Jack.

"I was as quiet as I could be and so were the doctor and assistants. My parents were present during the birth, and they were silent too. We wanted to do that for my baby," says Wadhams.

Hubbard goes further in regards to how pregnant women should be treated. “A woman who is pregnant should be given every consideration by a society which has any feeling for its future generations. If she falls, she should be helped-but silently.” And he adds, “The mother, then, should be extremely gentle on herself during pregnancy and those around her should be entirely informed of the necessity for silence after any jar or injury.”

As for the act of birth itself, he cautions, “A woman who wants her child to have the best possible chance will insist upon silence being maintained in the hospital delivery room as far as it is humanly possible.”

Since these discoveries were first announced by Hubbard in 1950, they have been applied by doctors and nurses around the world. After a six-year international investigation of research from America, Canada, England, France, Sweden, Germany, Austria, New Zealand and Switzerland, Thomas Verny, M.D. wrote, "...the unborn child is a feeling, remembering, aware being, and because he is, what happens to him-what happens to any of us-in the nine months between conception and birth molds and shapes personality, and drives ambitions in very important ways."

Conclusion - silence is indeed golden for women giving birth.

Daredevil Tom

One reason I love Tom Cruise is that he lives life to the fullest, he is not only an "actor" who does the easy parts and lets someone else do it when it gets tough.
He is really ot for living the roleas that he plays and experience as much as he can. For example:

"The superstar actor has refused to allow a stunt double to take on the dangerous high falls necessary for his part as secret agent ETHAN HUNT in the sequel - and his willingness to push himself to the limit even scares legendary stunt coordinator VIC ARMSTRONG, who is working on the film with him."

I think it is great why sit back in a "safe" corner and watch life? I am for living life to the fullest!!
